CIMIC Group said its UGL business has been awarded a contract by APA Group for the Sybella solar and battery project at Mount Isa in Queensland. The scope covers engineering design, procurement, construction and commissioning of a 72 MW solar farm and a 52 MW/104 MWh battery energy storage system.
Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2026, with completion expected in mid-2028. For EPCs, utilities and equipment suppliers, the award is a concrete procurement signal for PV generation, battery integration, electrical balance of plant and commissioning services in Australia’s North West Minerals Province. COTECH is not a project supplier or partner.
