California has surpassed 21 GW of energy storage connected to the grid, according to the cited industry report. State agencies link the build-out to shifting solar generation and improving grid reliability.
For B2B buyers, the milestone is a demand signal rather than a single product specification. Qualification should cover battery chemistry, PCS performance, controls, fire-safety design, commissioning support and long-term service capacity.
Procurement teams should compare usable energy, power duration, degradation assumptions and warranty response under one site-data package. Storage scale matters, but project-specific interconnection and safety requirements still govern the bankable system.
