Jinko ESS reported on 29 October that it delivered a combined 20.06 MW/66.33 MWh of lithium-ion battery storage for three agrivoltaic projects in Grünberg, Grünhainichen and Marbach, Germany. The sites pair farming and PV generation with storage on the same land.
The projects use DC-coupled architecture so surplus solar can charge the batteries before conversion to AC. The reported site capacities range from about 12.5 MWh to 40 MWh; at Grünberg, an 11 MW PV plant has 40 MWh of storage and a 9 MW grid connection.
For procurement teams, the event makes the interface—not only battery capacity—the key question. Bid documents should define the DC/AC ratio, grid export limit, clipping strategy, cycling profile, noise and safety requirements, PCS interface, EMS responsibilities and commissioning tests for co-located agricultural sites.
