Projects selected under New South Wales’ 2023 firming tender are now operational, according to the state energy minister and AusEnergy Services. The four projects, delivered by AGL Energy, Akaysha Energy, Iberdrola Australia and Enel X, together provide about 1 GW/3 GWh of dispatchable firming capacity—around 8% of NSW summer peak demand.
The program represents more than AU$1.8 billion of investment and supported more than 1,500 construction jobs. For procurement teams, the result demonstrates the value of long-term energy service agreements in bringing storage and demand response through delivery; it is an operating-market benchmark rather than a new equipment tender.
