LUMA Energy and AES Puerto Rico announced the energization of the infrastructure connecting the Jobos Solar and Jobos BESS projects to Puerto Rico’s grid. The step enables testing of what the companies describe as the island’s first utility-scale battery energy storage system.
The projects are designed to add 80 MW of solar generation and 110 MW of battery power with approximately 440 MWh of four-hour storage. The battery is intended to shift daytime solar output toward evening demand and support grid stability. Energization is a commissioning milestone, not proof of full commercial operation or an open supply tender; COTECH has no stated relationship with the projects.
