SECI Opens 800 MW / 3,200 MWh Standalone Battery Tender in India

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has opened the ESS-IV request for selection for energy from 800 MW / 3,200 MWh of standalone battery energy storage systems. The tender is an online process with e-reverse auction and was published on 1 October 2026.

Key procurement data

SECI lists the online bid deadline as 30 October 2026 at 18:00, followed by offline submission on 3 November and bid opening on 4 November. A pre-bid meeting was held on 9 October, with a second meeting notice uploaded on 15 October. The tender documents identify the opportunity as SECI-2026-TN000032.

What buyers should watch

The scale creates a substantial near-term requirement for battery containers, power-conversion equipment, controls, commissioning and long-term service. Suppliers and developers should read the final RfS for availability, performance, warranty, safety, auxiliary-load and payment obligations before pricing. For EPC teams, delivery sequencing and evidence of operational support may matter as much as cell cost.
