Spanish olive-oil producer Acesur has started construction of a 3.65 MW agrivoltaic installation in Vilches, Jaén, next to its packaging plant. Reported on 20 October, the project will place more than 5,150 modules over an existing olive grove and add a 3 MWh battery system.
Greening is developing the project, which is designed to keep the grove productive while directing the generated electricity to the nearby industrial facility. The elevated structure is reported at more than four metres, allowing agricultural machinery to operate below the modules. Spain’s IDAE awarded the project a €2.8 million grant.
The procurement lesson for factories is that structural, agricultural and electrical scopes must be tendered together. Buyers should request loading and foundation data, access and maintenance plans, self-consumption forecasts, storage dispatch logic, protection studies, grant-eligibility evidence and measurable commissioning criteria.
