Suniva Raises $835 Million for New 4.5 GW US Solar Cell Facility

Suniva has completed an $835 million capital raise while building a new 4.5 GW solar cell facility in Laurens County, South Carolina. The $600 million plant is expected to open in late 2027, ramp toward full capacity in 2028 and add 564 manufacturing jobs; Suniva says long-term offtake agreements cover most planned future production.

For US module manufacturers and project buyers, the announcement points to a potential domestic cell supply source, but future capacity is not current availability. Procurement teams should confirm technology, qualification, offtake allocation, delivery dates, warranty structure and trade-policy treatment before relying on the pipeline. COTECH has no stated relationship with Suniva.
