The UK government has approved Beacon Fen Energy Park, a planned 400 MW solar plant with a 600 MW co-located BESS, according to pv magazine. Construction is expected to begin in 2027; commissioning is not expected until the early 2030s.
For buyers and EPCs, development consent clears a major permitting gate but does not confirm construction, equipment orders or commercial operation. Procurement teams should still verify grid-connection terms, battery duration, delivery milestones, fire-safety design and the notice-to-proceed schedule.
The project’s higher battery power rating than solar capacity also makes the shared-connection and dispatch design important diligence items. Treat the approval as a qualified pipeline signal, not as available supply.
